Using SKAA technology, the Soundboks 4 continues the tradition of being able to wirelessly connect up to five other Soundboks (Soundboks 4, 3, and Go).
We strived to continue a simple, straightforward solution for connecting several Soundboks. Here is a video to explain how to use the TeamUP feature:
The TeamUP button gives you the option to choose between various modes for your Soundboks 4. Read about them below.
SOLO Mode
This is the default SOUNDBOKS setting, enabling you to play your preferred music with a single device connected to your Soundboks 4. Within this setting, you can choose to connect your device either with Bluetooth or with a wired connection using an AUX Cable into the Pro Panel located on the backside of the Soundboks.
HOST/JOIN Mode
This mode allows you to play music on up to 5 Soundboks speakers wirelessly. To set this up, you will need one Soundboks in HOST mode and the rest of the nearby Soundboks (up to 4) in JOIN mode.
When HOST-mode is on and playing, the volume levels from the HOST will not correspond with the other speakers that are connected, this is to allow various levels of volume in various locations. If you want the speakers to play at the same volume, you can easily use the SOUNDBOKS app. Through the app you can control the volume of all speakers at the same time.
While using the HOST/JOIN setup you will always need to connect your playing devices to the HOST. If you wish to connect other devices using the Pro Panel (DJ Mixer, Microphone, etc.), all of the devices will need to be plugged into the HOST speaker. The inputs on the Soundboks in JOIN-mode are muted; the AUX-out can still be used to connect an additional speaker.
When a HOST is nearby, the Soundboks in JOIN-mode will automatically connect with it. If you do not wish to be connected to a Soundboks in the area, you simply switch to SOLO-mode.
Connecting 6+ Soundboks together
You can connect up to four Soundboks wirelessly to a single HOST. However, to connect more than 5 Soundboks wirelessly, you will need to set up 2 HOST speakers, each of which allows for 4 "JOIN" speakers to be connected to each HOST. You will need to connect your device to HOST A, then run an AUX from the "AUX OUT" on HOST A to the "AUX IN" on HOST B. You could multiply this setup an infinite number of times to fit your needs.
Bond Button
The BOND button is located on the top of the Pro Panel between the CH1 and CH2 inputs. The BOND Button is for advanced functions in JOIN-mode. To learn more about this button, check out our article on the Pro Panel.
